A legendary old-fashioned steamer
In 1906 Modalen municipality asked the board of Indre Nordhordlands Damskipselskap to build an ice-breaking steamer to bring the community out of winter isolation. The building of the vessel started in the beginning of 1908, and it was delivered the same year. The steamer Oster met the ice-breaking expectations, made good speed and was held in high esteem by travellers. The vessel is now rebuilt and decorated back to original standard, and is ready for charter.
