A fjord trip among giants
The boat trip takes you through the Osterfjord, which becomes narrower and narrower and the mountains higher and higher as you make your way up the fjord. We pass abandoned farms in remote locations and steep rock faces with old lookout posts and traps that were used to catch salmon. We have to negotiate the narrow Mostraumen sound with it's strong current, through which boats are just able to pass. 

Back in time into the mountains
The bus trip from Mo through the Eksingedalen valley is one of the most spectacular in Western Norway. A road was not build across the mountains until 1976. This is a trip back in time that passes old, remote farms, small white wooden churches, abandoned mountain pasture farms, stone bridges built by hand, paths in rugged terrain where people and animals lived between sheer mountains and wild waterfalls. Note how far it is down to Evanger and Bolstadøyri - in the olden days everything had to be either carried or transported by horse. 

Routes and time table
This trip is available from 1 June to 31 August. You can take the boat from Bergen to Modalen and the bus back, or take the bus from Bergen to Modalen and the boat back.
