Hotel Ullensvang

Check in, exhale

Hotel Ullensvang is located in the peaceful village of Lofthus right in the heart of the unique and award-winning western Norwegian fjord cultural landscape. Ullensvang is located in the district Hardanger. A district that has inspired many writers, painters and composers over the years. The composer Edvard Grieg was a regular guest at Hotel Ullensvang for many years, and here he found inspiration for well-known works such as "Spring" and "Holberg Suite". His small composer's cabin still stands in the hotel's garden, overlooking the majestic Folgefonna, which is reflected in the sparkling blue Hardangerfjord.

From 1846, when Hans Utne rented a bed, his own, Hotel Ullensvang has developed over time. To this day, the hotel is owned and run by the Utne family. Despite modern facilities, the family kept the personal care of the guests, and the traditions that only a privately owned hotel can maintain.

European royals, as well as people like Indira Gandhi, Willy Brandt and Henry Kissinger, are among those who have visited the hotel over the years. But the hotel is not just for "Royal", they want to give a "Royal" welcome to everyone.

Hotel Ullensvang is idyllically located on the sunny side of the Sørfjord, an arm of the Hardangerfjord, with the majestic Hardangervidda in the back. It provides a fantastic starting point for excursions.

At Lofthus you can participate in walks through a unique cultural and natural landscape. Hardanger Fruktsti takes you on a local historical walk through Norwegian fruit production. The hike can be combined with a farm visit with a side tasting.

The settlement can also offer the Skredhaugen Outdoor Museum and Bioforsk Vest Ullensvang research center. Most famous is probably Ullensvang Church from "Brudeferden i Hardanger", built in 1250. A visit here can often be combined with a Grieg concert.

Hotel Ullensvang has extensive experience as a host for events, large and small.
